On the Mat : Venom

Females wrestlers invariably have a pseudonym which should give their opponents an idea of the type of person they are taking on. Think of those you know - which names come to mind and which names do you think match the type of wrestler they are ? One of the names that has always stuck in my mind is Venom : a 2-syllable poisonous, sometimes lethal, noun, that is presented to us in the guise of a skillful, pretty, experienced fighter.

So, I started by asking Venom about her name............

I gather that many girls choose certain “stage” names because they are close to their “real” name, but I get the impression that your moniker relates to your fighting skills………….
Venom : Yes anyone who has been on the receiving end will tell you I can be quite deadly, but I don't use brute strength I like to trap people in bad positions and feel them struggle.

So how did you discover a love for all things fighting ?
I always beat the crap out of my little brother growing up haha but it got serious when I started training muay Thai and Brazilian jiujitsu when I was about 19.

Is this still a hobby for you or do you see this as your “job” ?
Its a bit of both but I also have a full time day job for a charity saving the world!

Several female wrestlers do fetish modelling as well as wrestling – is this something that interests you?
Its not something I have explored much yet but in the future who knows. Most of my pictures show off my sportier side.

You describe yourself as a “professional martial artist” with experience in a variety of different fighting formats. With this in mind, do you think those who offer fantasy wrestling or facesitting sessions as “lessening”wrestling as an professional form?
I enjoy fantasy sessions occasionally, it's fun dressing up and acting out a scrip. I don't think face sitting is wrestling it's more a fetish for guys interested in being humiliated and controlled by hot women.

What are the best or most memorable places you have wrestled at ?
Wrestling in new work for Doommaidens and femwin was great fun! I'll be back over there in March. Pippas shows at the wrestling factory are always a good gig too, it feels more dramatic in the ring!

There seem to be so many girls offering wrestling nowadays – how does this affect your attitude to what you do?
I'm confident in my ability and still undefeated in female or mixed matches. Most people are surprised that off the mat I'm quite a chilled relaxed person but fighting brings out my inner bad ass!

What do you personally get out of wrestling – is winning everything ?
I won't lie I love winning and over powering guys but mostly I enjoy meeting so many interesting people, traveling to exciting places and the physical rush and adrenaline you get after a good match with a worthy opponent.

You are pretty up-front about what your experience and skills, so what kind of people tend to book sessions with you ?
A whole range! Mostly I think it's guys attracted to strong athletic women or those who enjoy pain and domination. Most of my matches are comp or semi comp although I'm getting more requests for fantasy sessions.

Away from the mat, what do you do to unwind ?
I don't spend much time away but if I want to relax I read a good book or run a bubble bath.

Is there anything you really want to accomplish this year ?
I'll mainly be focusing on progressing my bjj skills and doing lots of competitions.

Lastly, why should people book a session with you ?
For the thrill of the fight, and to get your ass kicked by a girl of course!
